In this episode of Future Memories, Kem Kem invites Lagos-based cultural curator and music archivist Kunle Tejuoso Jr.—a key figure in Nigeria’s vinyl resurgence and the creative force behind Jazzhole Lagos.
Kunle shares stories of growing up in the legendary Jazzhole, the early rhythms that shaped his ears, and how his father’s influence introduced him to the magic of archiving sound. Together, they explore the music that scored his formative years—from the soul-stirring sounds of Asa and Nneka, to the cosmic jazz of Sun Ra, the roots reggae of Augustus Pablo, and the sacred storytelling of Yusufu Olatunji.
This episode becomes a journey, where memory, music, and place intersect. Kunle speaks on his evolving role as a cultural custodian, his work preserving vinyl records, and curating immersive experiences that celebrate Afrobeat, highlife, jazz, and experimental soundscapes.
A heartfelt conversation on heritage, resonance, and the joy of keeping sound alive for the next generation.
