With Guest: In a journey to express and live life more authentically the ‘Wes Lee’ moniker was born out of an inward and ego- shattering journey that helped to resurface Texel’s love for electronic music. Finding magic in the liminal space between synthetic and organic, brutal and sensual, ancestral yet futuristic sound from the continent where humanity set foot on earth — a love that’s both spiritual in nature and purposeful in ambition.

After spending 20-years to help build the contemporary hip- hop and dancehall landscape in The Netherlands, under the infamous alias ‘WaxFiend’, Wesley Texel (founder of Encore, Jamrock, Tribes, and Ziongate and booker @ Paradiso) takes to his new moniker, ‘Wes Lee’, to extend and re- emphasise his continued efforts to champion electronic dance music from Africa and her diaspora in the Netherlands. In his own words, Wes Lee is an exploration of introspective, ancestral, deep and sensual bass and percussion driven electronic music unapologetically representing the motherland.

Free from the influence of popular playlists and predictive algorithms, Wes Lee is more concerned with charting new spiritual territory than he is with playing it safe. Perpetually in tandem with his audience, they journey together to places where ego and prejudice have no home, celebrating the healing properties of communal dancing as an expression of freedom.
